The Maya coin purse features traditional Mayan brocade designs traditional to the communities of Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan in the Western highlands of Guatemala. While all feature geometric abstract designs, each coin purse brocade design is slightly different and varied, depending on the artistic inspiration of its weaver. The geometric design is created in the moment as each woman weaves. The rose, lilac, and gray colors are made with artisanal dyes using ash, tree bark, plants, and cochineal insects. The white color is from natural cotton. Dimensions are 6 x 5 x 2in, with water-proof inner lining, and YKK zipper.
