Yabal’s natural sheeps’ wool blankets are artisanally crafted by our artisan workshop in Momostenango. This wool weaving tradition goes back several generations in each family. The techniques are all artisanal beginning with carding the raw wool by hand, then spinning the wool into threads, dyeing the threads over wood fires using natural plants and minerals, drying the wool in the open air, weaving these beautiful blankets using the foot loom. After which, the woven blankets are boiled, air-dried and then hand-brushed to create a soft felted texture.

Yabal Home is an artisanal line of handwoven textile accessories. Our fabrics are handcrafted using the Mayan backstrap loom by cooperatives of Guatemalan indigenous artisans. Featuring ecological plant dyes, natural cotton, recycled denim threads, recycled plastic bags, and natural sheeps wool. Yabal is a Fair Trade organization dedicated to the empowerment of rural women artisans. All profits fund social programs for our weavers.
